MUSIG Education

Welcome to MUSIG’s education page! The McGill Ultrasound Interest Group (MUSIG) is a student-run group that was created to help medical students excel in the practice of ultrasound. We offer frequent training events for students, participate in local and global outreach, and host an annual international ultrasound conference called MTL-SONO.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be posting summary sheets, flashcards, helpful videos, and biweekly quizzes to help you improve your knowledge of theory and improve your ability to interpret scans. Whether you’re a 1st year med student learning about ultrasound for the first time, or a seasoned scanner hoping to hone your skills, we’re here to help you achieve your sono goals!

Follow us on our Facebook Page for more information and for our weekly quizzes!

2020 Virtual Point-of-Care Ultrasound Conference

MTL-SONO 2020 is an amazing two days of webinars by some of the biggest names in POCUS
education worldwide! Although COVID-19 has put our hands-on POCUS training on the back
burner, it has provided us the opportunity to reach out to instructors from far and wide and the
response has been overwhelming! We are very excited to offer live online lectures covering a
wide range of topics to help broaden everyone’s POCUS knowledge, from beginner students to
more advanced residents and staff. Come learn how to use bedside ultrasound to diagnose a
range of pathologies from retinal detachment to shoulder dislocation to COVID-19!

All ticket sales go directly to support student learning and outreach initiatives in point-of-
care ultrasound by the undergraduate McGill Ultrasound Interest Group.

We hope you enjoy the weekend!

MUSIG x Seeds of Change: MTL-SONO 2020

Help the McGill Ultrasound Interest Group host MTL-SONO, the 2nd annual student-run Point-of-Care Ultrasound Conference, bringing together residents and students from medical schools across Eastern Canada for hands-on teaching from some of Canada’s top experts in ultrasound education.

With your support, we can:

  • Offer medical students and residents the opportunity to build a strong foundation in point-of-care ultrasound and obtain step 1 of the independent practitioner certification accredited by the Canadian Point-of-Care Ultrasound Society (cPOCUS).
  • Foster inter-university collaboration and knowledge exchange that will lead to improved patient care.
  • Continue McGill Medicine’s legacy as a leader in ultrasound education and ensure our medical students and residents, as well as those in the region, are exposed to the latest in cutting-edge technology and novel applications within this rapidly advancing field.

Our goal: reach 10,000$.

Note: for each milestone achieved, we will be posting ultrasound material for our supporters!

Meet our team through our recent seed for change campaign video.
